Build trust - Make it easy for people to contact you. So many sites only post limited contact information - what does this imply to you - perhaps they do not want you to contact them? Why?

Every time you send out an email perhaps that is an opportunity to do some subtle marketing within your email signature.

A web site is essential to any serious business these days but it is a significant cost so how do you get the maximum benefit out of your investment? For some companies the cost/benefit analysis is clear. For others it is more difficult to find enough tangible benefits to offset the cost.

A graphic designer has millions of options with print - almost unlimited variations in fonts, colours and layout options. Unfortunately only a tiny fraction of these options are available to web designers - so the web severely restricts your creativity.
There is a requirement under the Cookie Law to tell users about cookies and what you are going to use their information for and obtain their consent to the placing of the cookies
Selling online - You must display certain information, allow customers to correct order errors and you can't charge for returns
Contrary to how it appears as you probably receive loads of spam emails, as I do, you are only allowed to send marketing emails to individual customers if they've given you permission.
Opt out is the default. A visitor must do something positive (eg tick the box) to "opt in" otherwise you do not have their permission.
If you store or use personal data it must be kept secure, accurate and up to date. When you collect personal data you must say why.
You cannot use someone else's text copy or photos or images on your website without their permission.
Websites, whether involved in e-commerce or not, should provide at least name of service provider, email, address, business number, vat etc
