Joseph is a Chartered Marketer with over 35 years marketing and public relations (PR) experience. Throughout his career, he has provided solutions for small, medium and large companies operating in the UK and internationally.

Michael is a web designer who has always believed websites must do much more than look pretty. Michael founded Epsilis in 1999 and continues to provide support to Joseph, Paula and clients on a part-time basis.

Michael realised very early on that important aspects of web design were being ignored by most of the web design community (and still often are):

SEO (Search Engine Optimisation). Often treated as a later addon done by someone else, rather than an integral part of web design from the outset which it should be.
Web Accessibility. Making websites work for everyone regardless of their ability. This can be complex and still developing but many long established simple steps help websites be more widely accessible.
Legal Requirements of Websites. For many years this section of my website has been very near the top visited pages.

For many years Michael also ran 2 additional websites designed to educate people about SEO and Web Accessibility, but these would be a full-time job to maintain now.

Keeping up with best practice, trends and technology changes is still key to good web design in our view. The pace of change just seems to be accelerating. Michael recently thought it would make a good article: What is changing in the crowded world of websites?

In the early years, our focus was on building a team of excellent web developers and we created one of the early truly easy-to-use CMS systems (called epecentre). This software was implemented across approximately 30 websites. We also built the first evolution of the now-famous Fast Tomato career planning system widely used in schools and the first incarnation of the online systems used by The Wow Awards!

Always wishing to keep up with market trends I moved our focus from web applications to building search engine-friendly websites.

Some years back Michael decided to move away from running a team of web designers so that he could personally do more of the work he most enjoyed – hands-on designing great websites.

Our focus is still on user-friendly and ethical search engine optimised websites as most people we speak to want to get value for money out of their web investment. Pretty graphic designs are all very well but if no one visits your site or if it just doesn’t actually help visitors – what is the point?

We have a wealth of experience and keenly keep abreast of the latest issues and technologies to allow us to give the best advice and support to our customers.

We specialise in websites for small businesses, charities, and business start-ups. We aim to provide all the support you need to get the most from your website investment.

We aim to be flexible and are also often asked to deal with website problems, fix issues and bring websites up to scratch.

Ongoing

We provide website maintenance packages to look after your site on an ongoing basis so you do not need to. We also provide support and guidance if you need it and include small website changes.
