There is a requirement under the Cookie Law to tell users about cookies and what you are going to use their information for and obtain their consent to the placing of the cookies
Simple Explanation of UK Distance Selling and Online Trading Rules
Selling online – You must display certain information, allow customers to correct order errors and you can’t charge for returns
Email Marketing – beware of spamming with purchased email lists
Contrary to how it appears as you probably receive loads of spam emails, as I do, you are only allowed to send marketing emails to individual customers if they’ve given you permission.
Web Forms: Opt out or Opt in by default?
Opt out is the default. A visitor must do something positive (eg tick the box) to “opt in” otherwise you do not have their permission.
Simple Explanation of Data Protection, GDPR and Privacy Policy
If you store or use personal data it must be kept secure, accurate and up to date. When you collect personal data you must say why.
Copyright: Is automatic in the UK and applies to websites
You cannot use someone else’s text copy or photos or images on your website without their permission.
Minimum information required on websites and emails
Websites, whether involved in e-commerce or not, should provide at least name of service provider, email, address, business number, vat etc
Disability Accessibility – Why exclude anyone?
Web sites must make “reasonable adjustments” to the way in which they work to enable the disabled to use them. For example – providing text alternatives to non text content.
