Epsilis Sponsor Coventry University Motorsport:

It all started in 2000 for Coventry, for this was the first time the university entered into the formula student event. Formula Student is a competition in which students (mainly engineering students) design, build and race a motorcycle powered, single seat racecar. The Event had been running for a number of years before 2000, and had been brought over from America where the event has been held since 1981 known as Formula SAE by the Society of Automotive Engineers.

Kevin Payne an employee of Epsilis was part of the 2000 team as an automotive engineering design student, working with the body design team. Kevin was responsible for basic body styling and graphic design work such as the event brochures giving information on the car. He also created the teams first website: www.covunimotorsport.com/2000 is a copy of this site which was originally on a different server. This website was produced within only a week - nearing the end of the university year, when greater advertisement of the team and the car was required.

"The Team relies on sponsorship and in today's world there is no better place than the Internet. Coventry University have been very lucky in there sponsorship from Epsilis and on behalf of the team I would like to thank Kevin Payne and the Company Epsilis for amazing help and expertise and also outstanding service even though the team were not a paying customer."

Michael Boyd, Cov Uni Motorsport Team member

No longer an engineer, Kevin was approached to help with details of the original site. However, Epsilis agreed that they would sponsor them by providing shared hosting and a basic version of the Epecentre free of charge. This would enable the students to continue their studies and concentrate on the build of the cars. The site was easily managed by Michael Boyd, a student at Coventry University. Epecentre provided the team with manageable Copy for numerous pages on the site, News pages, Profiles giving information about the team members, and Sponsorship information. The site can be viewed by clicking on the link www.covunimotorsport.com Continual updates will be put onto the site as the team moves closer to the final build and racing of the cars at Bruntingthorpe.

Michael Boyd, site content manager for the cov uni motorsport team made the following comments:

"Their epecentre management software is a tool where once set-up students can still have complete access to the content of the site with very simple text editing software. They can change and edit text pictures etc without prior knowledge of FTP, HTML, JavaScript or even web editing packages such as FrontPage. All work can be completed online and additions seen immediately once they have been added."
"In future years anyone with interest in this area will not have much work to do at all to update the site producing a great advertising medium for the team to reach out to potential sponsors and students alike."
"To be able to put the information up there yourself as it happens works out much more economical with time and removes the need for an expensive software contract with a company who really do not know what your website is all about."
"I would definitely recommend the management style of website development as used by Epsilis and hope Epsilis keep this relationship they now have with our university for future seasons of the team and the University."
